Selection Guide
How to Choose Cold Shrink Cable Accessories
Start by defining whether the project requires a cable termination,
cable joint or cold shrink tubing. Then confirm voltage class,
cable configuration, conductor size, installation environment
and available technical specifications.
Application
Termination vs Jointing vs Cold Shrink Tubing
Termination Kit
Used where a power cable ends and connects to electrical equipment
or another designated connection point.
Jointing / Splice Kit
Used where compatible cable sections must be connected
along a power cable route.
Cold Shrink Tubing
Used for selected insulation, sealing and protection requirements
around cable or electrical components.
First identify the function of the accessory; this determines
the correct product family before dimensions and specifications are reviewed.
Voltage Class
Selecting Cold Shrink Accessories by Cable Voltage
1 kV
Confirm cable construction, conductor size, core configuration
and the required termination or jointing application.
10–15 kV
Match voltage class with cable dimensions, insulation structure,
accessory type and installation environment.
20–24 kV
Review the full cable specification and required installation
configuration before selecting the accessory kit.
35 kV
Confirm voltage class together with cable construction,
conductor size, core configuration and project requirements.
Voltage alone is not enough to identify the correct cold shrink accessory.
Cable Configuration
Single-Core vs Three-Core Cold Shrink Accessories
1-Core
Match the accessory to the individual cable construction,
conductor size and termination or jointing requirement.
3-Core
Confirm the three-core cable structure together with accessory
type, conductor size and installation configuration.
Core count should always be reviewed together with the complete cable specification.
Installation
Indoor vs Outdoor Cold Shrink Terminations
Indoor
Match the termination to cable parameters,
equipment connection and indoor installation conditions.
Outdoor
Review cable parameters together with the outdoor installation
environment and project protection requirements.
Confirm the installation environment before selecting the final termination configuration.
Advanced Note
Do Not Select Cold Shrink Accessories by Voltage or Cable Size Alone
The correct accessory depends on several parameters working together:
accessory type, cable voltage, conductor size, cable construction,
core configuration, installation environment and the equipment
or connection arrangement.
Cable datasheets, drawings and photographs are useful for reducing
configuration errors before quotation, sample approval and bulk ordering.
